I took over 50 photos and no i won't post them all. Here is the wen and cheek trimming done by Dr. Roberts. She made it look so easy. She has some nimble fingers there and is incredibly gentle with the fish.
Panda Paws is sporting a new do and can see much better. I am extremely satisfied with the results and think he looks adorable. Such big eyes he has now.
Here is a front and side view of Panda Paws before his wen trim. He is on the right.

Here he is going to sleep. Dr. Roberts used Finquel and buffered with equal parts of baking soda.

Looks painful to me. There is some controversy regarding if it is or is not painful. Panda Paws did receive an analgesic after the procedure.

Here is Dr. Roberts trimming around the upper eye area.

A piece of Panda Paw's wen.

Dr. Roberts is using Brown-Adson tissue forceps. She flipped them and used the flat handle part because it was smooth and could cover the eye and prevent accidental injury. That is just about verbatim from Dr. Roberts.

Back in the Finquel solution.

Recovery. Dr. Roberts waking Panda Paws up in his bucket. It takes a few minutes.

Here is most of what was removed.

Weighing in 191 grams.

Panda tolerated the procedure well. It took approximately a half hour. He was given an injection of butorphanol for pain and baytril an antibiotic. He is navigating the tank much better and is the first one at the food. Here he is back home in his tank later that afternoon.

I also followed the thread on Wendy before I even started posting here, and I thought I was smitten with her.....Panda Paws is so cute he brought tears to my eyes - the front-on post surgery pic, what cheeks!!!! (This is where I am feeling the need for a love emoticon.... ) Gorgeous fish you have, Wendylove!

Marigold

I think they are beautiful too! And yes that post recovery pic brought tears to my eyes too. He came through it very well.
Liv001 a page is fine with me. I hope more people will utilize the services of fish vets. Anyway to get that info out there is great. I have a soft spot for Dr. Roberts as she has given Wendy a more comfortable life and Panda paws can now see.

How bout when you have time, go back thru your posts and describe what's happening. That would be a good start on an article describing the procedure. Then we can work on it together and move it to the web after you have more time.

Also, any idea what that instrument is she used to cover Panda's eye while she was cutting? is it the blunt end of big metal tweezers?

and what's on the tweezers? I'd betcha that's something to mark how big Panda's eye is for reference.

Marigold [i love your name by the way...it is my favorite flower ] the camera i used is a Sony digital with Carl Zeiss lens. I prefer my Canon Rebel but it is not digital so it is quicker to use the Sony.
Betty; the instrument is a Brown-Adson tissue forceps. She flipped it and used the blunt end to protect the eye while cutting.
