This recipe makes about 10 cups gel food. Note. I also added around 5 heaping tablepoons of mazuri gel powder to mine which isn't reflected in the nutritional breakout below.
Ingredients
- 5 cups bottled drinking water
- 7 packets unflavored gelatine
- 1 adult multivitamin (not mega, no added iron)
- 1 500mg vitamin C tablet
- 2 500 mg calcium carbonate suppliment tabs
- 6 tbsp calcium bentonite clay (optional)
- 1 cup frozen broccoli
- 1.5 cups kale
- 1 can mustard greens
- 1 can turnip greens
- 2/3 cup mackerel
Add 3.5 cups water to blender. Place the calcium, vitamin C and the multivitamin in to soak.
Blanch kale in 1.5 cups water. Add to blender and stir to mix hot and cold water. then pour about 1.5 cups of water back into the pan.
Add mackerel, clay and veggies to blender. Blend well.
For sinking food
- Pour blended ingredients into bowl.
- Dissolve gelatine in 1.5 cups of water you reserved from the blender and bring to a boil to dissolve gelatine.
- Add gelatine mixture to bowl and stir until well mixed
- Pour into flat shallow container(s) to make a depth of 1/4".
- tap container gently to remove any trapped air bubbles.
For floating food:
- Dissolve gelatine in 1.5 cups of water you reserved from the blender and bring to a boil to dissolve gelatine.
- Pour gelatine mixture into blender and blend until well mixed.
- Pour into flat shallow container(s) to make a depth of 1/4".
Refrigerate until set.
Cut into squares. I leave out a week's worth of gel in a plastic zipper bag and store in the refrigerator. The rest I freeze between layers of plastic wrap. When frozen, I store in the freezer in ziplock bags (each holding about a week of food). You can make layers thicker than 1/4 inch and then slice it up before you feed it.
